Cape May NJ Weddings ~ Seasonal Highlights
The Southern Mansion can host your Cape May, NJ weddings any time of year. Every season has its own charm, from the cozy winter inside warmth to summer garden splendor.
I have always loved winter weddings! Delicious candlelight, fireplaces burning, decadent gorgeous velvet dresses, fur trims, sparkling silver crystal and gold decoration galore with the warm winter rich colors deep red roses dark luscious wines and purples. We have even rented snow machines for the perfect “white wedding”. Wow the pictures with perfect white snow flakes falling in the background. Think about taking advantage of the beautiful holiday decorations at the Southern Mansion as this already gives you a fabulous backdrop. Christmas Holiday weddings and New Years events are always memorable and bring the families together at a special time. Silver and white with crystal accents can add some serious glamour to your Cape May, NJ weddings in the winter. For your ceremony, try a white velvet aisle runner trimmed with white satin ribbon, or decorate the altar with a crystal curtain backdrop adorned with hanging strands of elegant white phalaenopsis orchids. Black tie events always work now! If you want to heighten the drama, bring in the icy outdoors with ice-carved vases on your reception tables. And use heavy velvet aisle runners. Have your florist fill the vases with tall winter-white branches and hanging crystals to reflect the light from the tables. Surround the centerpieces with votive candles, and top your tables with white dupioni table linens and frosted glass china. Winter cocktail hour calls for warm, comforting drinks. You really can't go wrong with hot chocolate and warm apple cider, but it's your wedding – why not take every opportunity (drinks included) to add an element of surprise? Serve up white hot chocolate martinis and eggnog for your guests as they arrive.
The proverbial spring wedding is the birth of new beginnings spring gardens with the fabulous flush of tulips, daffodils and peonies in their brilliant yellows reds and pinks. The weather is warming up, the sun is shining and everyone is excited.
Signature cocktail is a great way to personalize your wedding any time of year, and spring is no exception. With temps on the rise, drinks that are crisp, cool, and refreshing - think Lemoncello or Champagne cocktails like Bellinis - are perfect for spring. Put your bridesmaids in tea-length gowns in tangerine Dupioni, tied with a honeysuckle-pink sash. Carry a bouquet of yellow gerberas. Ornament the walls with eye-catching citrus wreaths tied with silk grosgrain ribbon. Get the groom a zingy tie. Take this upscale with lemony pomanders of yellow roses. The Gardens at the Southern mansion are fabulous in the spring and are the perfect place to hold a garden wedding!
Beach or Garden weddings are classics for summer. The Southern Mansion gardens are unbelievably beautiful then. June Peonies, Lilies, Hydrangeas and thousands of other flowers perfume the air and shine in brilliant hot pinks, violets, oranges, yellow and cool whites. The gardens are magnificent and the perfect wedding background. Think outside cocktails and hot colors. Think sophisticated brights. Sticking with just two hues (or two plus an accent color) will keep your space unified. Rather than splashing color all over your reception space, use one dynamic color for a strong statement -- think all-pink centerpieces or bold orange table linens. This holds especially true for your centerpieces: instead of multicolored centerpieces, alternate single-color floral arrangements for a pulled-together look. Check out our favorite summer wedding color combo: summer is a time for daring and excitement.
Talk about planning a "happy summer wedding”! Get ready to swoon over these gorgeous summer wedding colors. We’re talking shades so handsome it hurts!
Golden yellows, pretty pastels, juicy oranges, traffic-stopping reds, fresh whites and glorious pinks make up summer wedding colors. Variety is the name of the game...
Spectacular weather time of year in Cape May! We are blessed with gorgeous Indian summer falls with crisp blue skies and low humidity. September, October and November are some of the most popular times to get married. Simply consider other rich and glamorous hues that fit the time of year. Try plum and aubergine combined with shades of cream and blush, or classic navy blue paired with a glam shade of gold. If you have your heart set on brown, try mocha or cappuccino hues rather than chocolate, which combine beautifully with black, cream, and even red. For a glamorous fall bridesmaid look, try pale gold dresses accented with sashes or flowers in mango or fuchsia. Rust, aubergine, and deep (but not quite forest) green are also widely flattering shades that look chic at this time of year. Though you might want to use them as filling for a ravioli starter, you don't have to incorporate pumpkins into your wedding aesthetics. There are lots of other decor elements you can work into your wedding that reflect the season in more subtle ways. Since it's the harvest season, any grains like wheat and millet add atmosphere. Wine or Champagne grapes and fruit like apples, pears and pomegranates will also highlight the fall in a pumpkin-free way. On the other hand, please see pictures of one of my favorite fall wedding where the bride incorporated huge and exotic gourds and pumpkins into some gorgeous decoration. It's no wonder fall Cape May, NJ weddings are so popular: changing leaves create amazing photo ops and, with the summer heat long gone, no one will be sweating through their attire.
