Physick Estate
The Emlen Physick Estate is the hub of all things Cape May. The Victorian mansion was once the home of the Physicks back in the late 1800s. Today it is a museum and the meeting point for almost any Cape May tour. Take part in daily house tours of the home and discover the history of our Victorian past with grand its architecture, decorative arts, and beautiful home decor.
Cape May County Museum
The Cape May County Museum is a great option if you wish to learn more about our local history. Enjoy guided tours, lectures, events, and rotating exhibits to learn more about our seaside town and what makes our community so special. The museum is housed in three historic buildings including the 1704 Colonial period home, 1830 Federal period addition, carriage she, and a 1780-barn.
Cape May Lighthouse
Dating back to 1857, the Cape May Lighthouse is an icon of the sea and our town. It has seen millions of visitors climb its 199 stairs to take in the beautiful views from atop. Located in the Cape May Point State Park, visitors will also enjoy the surrounding nature trails and Cape May Point Borough. Learn about the stories of lighthouse keepers, the surrounding area, and how the lighthouse functions still today and years ago.
Naval Aviation Museum
Located at the Cape May Airport, the Naval Aviation Museum features aircraft, engines, special exhibits, educational interactive displays, military memorabilia, and photographs. Families and their kids will also enjoy the hands-on educational activities, in addition to available flying lessons!
Historic Cold Spring Village
Historic Cold Spring Village is an interactive living museum that harkens back to the life of villagers living in South Jersey during the “age of homespun.” Through hands-on and interactive activities, visitors will be able to better understand our connection between the past and present of how the Cape May community has changed over the years.
The Colonial House Museum
Located just a few steps from the Southern Mansion, the Colonial House Museum is a living-history museum that showcases the original family home of Revolutionary War patriot Memucan Hughes. The home is thought to be one of the oldest surviving houses in Cape May, making this a true treat when visiting. The museum is open in the summer, Wednesdays through Saturdays, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or by appointment.
