Historic Victorian mansions
It’s hard to deny Cape May’s historic charm with its abundance of iconic Victorian mansions. With the highest concentration of Victorian homes (second to San Francisco), Cape May draws in thousands of visitors each year to see these not so humble abodes. Pick almost any street in Cape May, and you will most likely be greeted with beautiful Victorian homes, each distinctly different with their own colorful details and unique characteristics.
The Southern Mansion is one of the better known historic Victorian mansions in Cape May. Stop by for a tour or some stay with us during your next Cape May vacation.
Beaches
It’s no secret that Cape May is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. From Higbee Beach and Cape May Beach and everything in between, there is plenty of sand and shore to be enjoyed by everyone. For a relaxing day, there is nothing better than sitting on a sandy beach, listening to the waves crash into shores, while seagulls cull above you. It’s one of the many reasons why we love Cape May.
Colorful spring
Every spring, the town of Cape May lights up in a colorful array of various hues with the plentiful blooms and blossoms that line the streets and front lawns of homes and businesses. From perfectly sized tulips to stunning magnolia trees, spring florals are one of the many reasons we love Cape May.
Try Decatur Street, Columbia Avenue, Hughes Street, and Cape May’s oldest street, Jackson Street. Don’t forget a stop at Congress Hall as well and of course our very own, Southern Mansion.
Walking the promenade
Running parallel to Beach Avenue, The Promenade, or sometimes referred to as “the boardwalk” is a popular attraction that provides plenty of ocean views and unique shopping experiences. Extending for nearly two miles, it makes for the perfect walk along the beach and is one of the more popular things to do in Cape May.
Delicious seafood
One of our favorite reasons to love Cape May is the abundance of fresh seafood available from the area’s local restaurants. From local favorites like the Lobster House to H&H Seafood for some of the best Blue Claw crab around.
Shopping along Washington Street Mall
The shopping district in Cape May, Washington Street Mall, is a nostalgic outdoor pedestrian mall, lined with specialty boutiques, restaurants, dessert shops, and endless Cape May charm.
