Birding

Cape May Birding

The National Geographic lists Cape May as one of the best destinations in the world for birding. Because of this, Cape May birding is a favorite outdoor activity enjoyed by both locals and visitors.

Due to Cape May’s small peninsula, the area draws in a wide variety of birds during spring and fall migrations. Home to the Cape May Bird Observatory and several popular migratory areas nearby, Cape May is a prime spot to see migratory birds. The bird conservatory and the Audubon society hold large birding events during the migratory spring and fall seasons. And if you are birding on your own, read our helpful tips to help get you started.

Here at The Southern Mansion, we own a 50-acre slice of land right in the middle of the best birding spots for raptors, hawks, and bald eagles. Private bird watching is available on our sanctuary. Contact our front desk to arrange a visit – (609) 884-7171.
